Covering your thong sandals

Making or covering your thong sandals to match your tube top blouse.

Find a work area to lay everything out. Things that you will need. A pair of scissors, spray adhesive or cement glue in a jar, a small brush to apply cement glue,optional-light poster board to make pattern, the material (stretch fabric) an ink pen or black marker and a sewing machine to sew your tube top blouse.

Even though this picture show the thong part of the sandal on the tabe, we will be starting with covering the base of the sandals first.

You will need to trace the outline of the shoe base. You can do this on a poster board paper, the thin poster boards. You will trace and cut out that which will become a pattern. As you can see from the photo, the tracing is done on the fabric. We prefer poster board. They come 2'x3'.

As you can see, the shoe base is being rolled as it is traced around the arch of the shoe. Do so on poster board paper. Alway start drawing the line from the shoe enter arch in the center of the shoe.

Now that you have finish tracing the shoe or shoes, cut the material out.

When you have cut the material, you can test the wrap. Not to worry if it is a little short in length or not quite wide enough. Remember this is stretch fabric.

Now to prepare to put cement glue on or spray adhesive if that was your choice. It doesn't show it in this photo but you have to put news paper under your work so as to not get any glue onto the furniture, floor, carpet etc.

Now you glue around the base of the thong sandal. Just the sides, not the top or bottom. Get two pieces of block wood to rest the shoes on while they are being glued.
The contact glue need to set for about 20 minutes. If you are using spray adhesive, you put the material on right away. It can get tricky putting the material onto the base.
